Decisions:

  1. SEBS Office Shift
SEBS received a letter from the house owner of the house where our office is located. The owner has requested us to evict the house within a month, as he mentioned that he needed the space for himself. The team will explore for options and decide where shall we shift.
  1. Discrimination and Harassment in BNKS
There were few articles published in an online journal and circulated among SEBS members regarding the discrimination and harassment that happens in Budhanilkantha School. The article recounted few bitter memories of the author who faced discrimination and bullying for being from a Madeshi background. After this article, members published few other posts in SEBS Facebook page recounting bitter experiences of sexism, racism and bullying experienced while in the school.

The executive committee decided that we should take an initiative to address these issues with the school and to make sure that students do not have to encounter such experiences in the present. The team will also publish an official statement ensuring that we will do best from our part to tackle this issue. Ms. BarshaDharel will draft the statement.
  1. Legal Advisor for SEBS
There are many legal issues in SEBS that requires professional advice. Such as, the case in CDO is still pending, our certificate has not been renewed for 2 years and SEBS is also looking to amend our outdated constitution. In this regard, the executive team has decided to appoint a legal advisor. Ms. Manusmriti Baral will coordinate with Mr. Rastra Bhushan Khadka to prepare a ToR and select the appropriate candidate.
  1. Update on Donation Drive
Mr. Saugat Lama gave an update of the ongoing donation drive. He mentioned that we created an e-Sewa account of SEBS to collect donation within Nepal. Donation and pledges from various batches and SEBS chapters are coming in. The specifications and price of the finalized laptops are as follows:

    HP ProBook 440
    G4i5, 7th Gen, 14″, 8 GM RAM, 500 HDD
    Quantity — 18
    Price – Rs 59,000
    Supplier – Max International

    Dell Inspiron 3493
    i5, 10th Gen, 14″, 8GB RAM, 256 SSD
    Quantity — 17
    Price — Rs 63,000
    Supplier – Affix Computer Store

Max International was supposed to supply 35 HP laptops.  But they could only supply 18, so we had to look for another vendor.  Between May 17 and June 8 the price of Dell increased by Rs. 4000 due to shortage in the market.
  1. Any Other Business
