We’re pleased to share that the special screening of ‘Devi’ was successfully held and well attended by SEBSers, FOBS members, BNKS teachers, Media Representatives and Members from Development Organizations. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this powerful evening of reflection and dialogue.
We are especially proud of SEBSer 306B Subina Shrestha, an award-winning filmmaker and former Al Jazeera journalist, whose direction brought ‘Devi’ to life. A heartfelt thank you to Subina for offering the SEBS community this meaningful opportunity to engage with themes of violence, resilience, and empowerment in our society.
‘Devi’ highlights the often-overlooked stories of Nepal’s Civil War, portraying the personal journey of Devi Khadka—a rebel warrior, mother, and survivor of sexual violence. As history risks forgetting voices like hers, Devi confronts her own trauma and takes a bold stand to lead a movement for justice. The documentary captures her bravery and determination with great honesty.
This screening was more than just a film viewing—it was a powerful space to reflect on history, challenge silence, and honor the courage of survivors.
We look forward to more such moments of learning and connection within the SEBS community—events that foster empathy, awareness, and meaningful change.
Note: For those who registered but did not attend, we kindly request that you confirm your availability more accurately for future events. Since seats were limited and reserved based on registrations, some members unfortunately missed the opportunity to join.
