Report on the U.S. Higher Education Guidance Counselor Training Session held in<\/strong> Biratnagar<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overview<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The U.S. Higher Education Guidance Counselor Training Session took place on May 26 and 27, 2024 at Big Hotel, Biratnagar. The session started from 09:30am to 04:30pm and breakfast, lunch and hi-tea were provided to the participants by the organizer. The trainers from SEBS were physically present and the representative from USEF, Priyani Shah was virtually present at the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were 15 participants (12 male, 3 female) on May 26, 2024 and 14 participants (11 male, 3 female) on May 27, 2024. After reaching out to 48 high schools in Biratnagar through emails, phone calls, messages through WhatsApp and Viber, ads on Kantipur (national newspaper) and Facebook, there were registrations from 16 different schools (22 participants) and participation from 10 different schools (15 participants). Through a community on WhatsApp, the participants and facilitators are maintaining contact with each other.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evaluation<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the pre-test and post-test of 10 marks, which the participants gave before the training and after the completion of the training, this training program\u2019s impact is evaluated. There has been an 83% increase in the mean score from 3.0 on the pre-test to 5.5 on the post-test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Feedback<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants filled out a feedback form at the end of the training session for the facilitators to reflect upon. Many participants were very satisfied with the program and found it to be highly relevant to their needs. They commended the organization and logistics of the program. The trainers were also rated on different categories: trainer Srijana Chettri received a mean rating of 4.57 out of 5 and trainer Abbal Dhakal received a mean rating of 4.45 out of 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
